The Wild Heart of the Yaak
Norm Zeigler
Trickling down from Canada in far northwestern Montana, the Yaak
winds through some of the wildest, most heavily timbered
country in the lower 48. It is a rough, untamed region,
not the kind that could be called pretty or picturesque ...
In a sense, the Yaak Valley is as much a state of mind as a landscape,
one of those strangely affecting places that inspire a profound
attachment in the people who live there.
