Reflections of Creative Salmon Fly Tying Written by Paul Rossman Flies photographed by Paul Schmookler

Paul Rossman of Bolton, Connecticut, reflects on his passion for
creative salmon fly tying and offers suggestions to tiers who wish to
"try their hand" at this artistic endeavour. Twenty-one of Rossman's
flies are shown and their dressings given.
Paul Rossman is a versatile and highly creative tier who not only
enjoys tying creative salmon flies, but also enjoys tying bass and wet
flies from the nineteenth century and contemporary patterns for the
stream he frequents. Rossman's salmon flies display his unique style,
marvelous understanding of material, color and technique.
