Streamers and Bucktails of the World:
Their History and Variations
Part III: The Reference Collection of Ora Smith
Steve Cullen
While touring New Hampshire's Lakes Region a few years ago, an
impressive reference collection of streamers, compiled between
the late 1950s and the 1960s, came to my attention. The collection
once belonged to Ora Smith of Keene, New Hampshire, and with
the exception of a few streamers that he had purchased for reference
and a few others that were tied by their originators or by one of his
friends, the majority had been tied by Smith. This article profiles
Ora Smith and presents 242 flies and their dressings.
