Muskrat at the Bar Ed Quigley The Beaverkill is a wide and winsome river flowing through New York's Catskill Mountains. It makes legends of its own and it draws its many lovers from all manner of men. Charlie Allen among them. It was Doug Bury, then owner of the Antrim Lodge in Roscoe, who first told me about Charlie Allen, that manner of man who limits-out on every opening day before noontime and looks upon mostly all other fishermen, especially the city fellers up from New York, with, well, let's call it a casual unamused disdain.
