Muskrat at the Bar
Ed Quigley
The Beaverkill is a wide and winsome river flowing through New York's
Catskill Mountains. It makes legends of its own and it draws its many
lovers from all manner of men. Charlie Allen among them.
It was Doug Bury, then owner of the Antrim Lodge in Roscoe, who
first told me about Charlie Allen, that manner of man who limits-out
on every opening day before noontime and looks upon mostly all other
fishermen, especially the city fellers up from New York, with, well, let's
call it a casual unamused disdain.
