Fly-Fishing with the Lost Patrol John Holt

The story of the Lost Patrol goes far beyond myth and legend in the Yukon and Northwest Territories. What happened to these four men could happen to anyone who lives in this country. Trappers, semi-truck drivers making the haul up the Dempster Highway in the middle of winter, gold miners, loggers or just someone driving from Dawson City to visit family or friends in the Territorial Capital of Whitehorse 300 miles to the east. Even a small mistake in this place can translate into death. For that matter, "no mistakes" are no guarantee of survival. As Robert Service says in his poem, "As still as death, as stern as fate ..." Author John Holt fly-fishes the waters of Blackstone River as he retraces the route most likely taken by the Lost Patrol.
