Bill Costello (1920-2003) Ingrid Sils Costello began tying his own flies in the early 1960s, starting with trout flies — like many other tiers. Although his flies caught fish, they certainly were not works of art. Someplace along the line he remembered seeing some “classic Atlantic salmon flies” and he thought that if he could learn to tie them well, he could tie anything.
